Artist & Blogger Spotlight: Canvas of Thoughts

When creating a new blog and navigating through many others, we find ourselves meeting and getting to know many other fellow bloggers, writers and photographers. Among many greats, one in particular has continuously inspired me and others and has also become a good friend. And in this little online world we have entered ourselves into, we have used each other has a “help desk” in many of our online counterparts. I had the extreme pleasure of doing a mini-interview of sorts, getting to know this blogger better and she allowed me to annoy her with my questions.

So, please, let me introduce, Britt with Canvas of Thoughts. In this ever so wild online world we live in, she has managed to keep her site simple, neat and clean, while making a BIG impact with her writing and creative mind. And not only is she a wonderful and inspiring writer, she is also becoming very well known artist over on Etsy and a Creator over on Patreon, Making her mark in the creative world.

So lets get started!

I first want to cover her Etsy shop, because that his her first and foremost avenue for her creativity. Etsy is a marketplace where people around the world connect, both online and offline, to make, sell and buy unique goods. Britt, has taken her canvas paintings and made them available to the world.

Britt, You run an Etsy shop. What is your main focus? And why did you chose to feature that?
B: Yes, I run my own shop CanvasOfThoughts. My main focus is my paintings. I want people when they look at my art to have some kind of emotion or feeling. I want my art to make as much as an impact as my writing does. When I discovered Etsy a few months back I realized a rare opportunity was being given to me. I was getting the chance to share my paintings all across the world. Something I believe every artist dreams about.

What prompted you to share your life with the world? Art and everything?

B: I guess I just woke up one morning and said this is where I want to go with my life. I chose this path and haven’t looked back since. I hope to make a good living with everything I am passionate about, but also I am so excited to inspire and encourage others.

Lets move on to Patreon. What is Patreon?  People who want to help every creator in the world achieve sustainable income.

Britt, you’re a new creator over at Patreon. How has that been going for you?

B: Yes I am! I am really excited about my new Patreon page and believe it will open doors. I want to devote all of my time to writing, but to be able to I have to support myself while doing so. Financially this would be a big blessing especially since now that I am a college student. I was telling someone about my page and said,” Don’t think of it as paying for my posts,  think of it as a tip jar to support me to keep on going.” I am hoping to raise support so I can continue to encourage many all across the world.

She’s a college student too?! Not only is she busy creating, she is busy learning. Raising the money through her paintings.

Britt, recently you achieved your goal to raise the money you needed to further your education. What exactly are you studying and why did you want to do this over anything else?

B: This was a huge blessing for me. My heart had always wanted to go in the field of working with children. One day I saw a TV show of people my age signing and it was beautiful to me. It was like I was taking my artistic ability from painting and now exploring it in a beautiful language. I combined the two things I was most passionate about and decided to learn American Sign Language working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing infants and toddlers. (Try and say that five times fast! Ha. )

Alright, Blog Blog Blog!

You have a new blog. What has your short time taught you so far?

B: In this short time, I have learned that my words have an impact. Every word I write can impact someone for the better or the worst and I take that very seriously and choose my words carefully. I truly believe our words can have a negative or positive effect.

What made you start your blog and why is it so important to you?

B: Well I was tired of talking to myself! All kidding aside, I wanted to show people kindness. I wanted to encourage and inspire those who needed a friend. It is important, because I realize people are listening to me. My voice is having an impact and to be able to say I was there for someone when they had no one…. What an honor! I take that very seriously and hold that close to my heart.

Britt, what is your biggest goal for your blog for the next year?

B: I really want to encourage as many as I can in this world. I think there are a lot of people who feel sad or alone and need a friend. My biggest goal is to try and get one of my articles in a well known magazine. To really get my inspirational posts out into the world.

Lets get a tad more personal,

What are your favorite: foods, hobbies, place to visit and time of day?

B: This is a hard question. I have never been a favorite kind of girl. I can’t decide on just one favorite.. Nope I have to have 3 or 4. If I had to try and narrow it down I do really love cheese fries. My guilty pleasure! For my hobbies, on top of painting and writing, I also enjoy playing the acoustic guitar. I don’t think I can say my favorite place to visit because so many places I have not visited yet. Once I explore more I will narrow it down for you. My favorite time of day would be night time. Curling up on the couch surrounded by family. Just the perfect, peaceful environment.

What does a typical week look like for you?

B: A lot of writing and usually up to my elbows in acrylic paint. My Baptist Church is definitely a top priority in my life.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

B: Nope. I live for today and today only. Every breath I breathe is from my Lord and Savior. We don’t know what holds tonight or tomorrow. I am just so thankful for today ❤

Any Advice? On anything?

I’m sure she will make you feel, right at home and Thank You for coming by The Hood to visit a fellow neighbor.
