Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

“I don’t believe in writers’ block. Do doctors have ‘doctors block?’ Do plumbers have ‘plumbers’ block?” No. We all have days when we don’t feel like working, but why do writers turn that into something so damn special by giving it a faintly romantic name.”—Larry Kahaner

Often enough we find ourselves stuck when it comes to writing. Is it because we truly have nothing to write about? Or is it really because we are afraid of what people might think?

That is the basis of my writing this. I find myself stuck all the time. Wondering if people will read or look at what I’ve posted. Deleting entire paragraphs of feelings or thoughts, or sending an entire story to the trash bin. I’ve been there. Doubting myself. Doubting my ability to be a decent writer. I think we have all been there. So lets bring back those drafts that have been collecting dust, use your blog as a journal and say whatever you want to say, because….

Starting in October, The MomHood is hosting a weekly event called Prompt Stomp.

What is Prompt Stomp?

Prompt Stomp is a weekly event, posted every Saturday, detailing a subject and YOU the writer, take it where you want.  Write a story, compose a song or take a picture. Its your prompt, do what you want. Stomp out the block!

Along with every new prompt, will be a list of featured bloggers who deserve some recognition for creativity, making an impression and having fun with their blog post. So please, go stick your toes in the blocean (Get it? Blogging +Ocean=Blocean. I just made that up!)  and share the love, its free!

PROMPT STOMP

I can’t wait to give this a shot and start reading some really awesome stories, seeing some amazing photos and whimsically daydreaming in poetry. I sure hope all of you will join me Saturdays for this little adventure!

Sign up to follow The MomHood via email, so every Saturday the prompt goes right to your inbox and be ready for the first prompt on October 3rd. Official page is coming very soon!!!! If you have any great ideas for prompts, start sending them my way so I can stock pile and certain Saturdays out of the month will be a prompt drafted up by one of you! (I have a giant glass jar waiting to be filled with some awesome ideas! and keep in mind the holidays are coming, lets get some Holiday Inspiration!!) Email me your name and blog URL so every one can see where the wonderful idea came from! Email me @ kyrababy314@gmail.com

Be creative. Have fun. And for the love of blogging, LOVE your blog!

Cheers!

Megan

  1. I love this idea and have sent you an idea. I loved the quote you had. Why do writers get to have “writers’ block”? It does seem pretty self-indulgent in that context, doesn’t it? Since starting my own blog, I’ve found that if I wait on my muse, I’ll often be waiting quite a long time, but if I just roll up my sleeves and realize that writing is not meant to be easy, I can get quite a lot done!

      1. I feel like a total idiot, but I have tried all possible options and have not figure out how to get the button to work for you to input your email to follow. I will continue to debug this glitch. Thank You for bringing it to my attention.
